Myōjin-shō
明神礁
An active submarine volcano in the Izu Islands known for forming temporary islands and its history of powerful underwater eruptions.

- Named after the fishing boat that first witnessed its major activity.
- An active site featuring hydrothermal activity and underwater fumaroles.
- The source of dacite lava eruptions similar to those of Mount Unzen.

- Temporary islands that occasionally form above the surface after major eruptions.
- The surrounding waters fifty kilometers north of Sumisu Island.
- The nearby Bayonnaise Rocks located ten kilometers to the west.
