- Shrine founded in 1221 by Higashi Taneyuki.
- Dedicated to Kuninotokotachi no Mikoto, actually Myōken Bosatsu.
- Renamed Myōken Shrine in the Meiji era.

- 250m approach with 300-year-old cedar trees.
- Approach has 120 mountain cherry trees.
- Sacred forest is a prefectural natural monument.
- Current main hall rebuilt in 1722.
