What it is

  • A 542-meter mountain also known as Mount Nokogiri located in Bungotakada and Kitsuki.
  • One of the 100 Mountains of Kyushu featuring a long ridge with jagged rock formations.
  • Site of the medieval Tawara Mountain Castle which belonged to the Tawara clan.
  • Home to the Kumano Magaibutsu stone buddhas on the western slope.
