Zuike-in Temple

What it is

• A Jodo sect Buddhist temple founded by Tenyo Ryomon in 1492
• Originally established as a sub-temple of the famous Zojoji Temple
• The founder served as the fifth head priest of Zojoji Temple
• Relocated to its current site in 1900 after several historical moves

What to see

• A statue of Amida Nyorai that survived the 1945 air raids
• A preserved statue of the temple founder, Tenyo Ryomon
• The modern main hall rebuilt after the original was destroyed in wartime

• The temple is a three-minute walk from Hiroo Station
