Hōon-in Temple
法音院
Hōon-in Temple is a historic sub-temple in Kyoto, part of two pilgrimages.
What it is
- A Shingon-shu Sennyū-ji sect temple.
- Founded in 1326 by Mujin Nyodō.
- Rebuilt in 1664 and 1665 by Kakun Saido.
- Family temple for the Honda family.
What to see
- Principal image is Fukūkenjaku Kannon.
- Main hall was a funeral hall for Empress Eishō.
- Large study hall may be from Fushimi Castle.
