Rokusho Shrine: a historic site with a unique lion dance and ancient burial mound.
What it is
- A shrine in Shisui Town, Chiba Prefecture.
- Dedicated to Amenominakanushi no Mikoto and ten other deities.
- Managed by Senko-in Temple during the Edo period.
What to see
- The current main hall, rebuilt in 1989.
- Sumi Rokusho Shrine Kofun, a circular burial mound.
- The kofun is 15 meters in diameter and 2 meters high.
When to go
- July 15 for the Sumi no Shishimai lion dance.
- Lion dance is for good harvests and rain.
