Ryōgon-ji Temple
楞厳寺
Ryogon-ji, or Crow Temple, is a historic Shingon temple with unique crow paintings and ancient trees.
What it is
- Shingon sect temple in Ayabe City, Kyoto Prefecture.
- Founded in 732 by Saint Rin.
- Main deity is Yakushi Nyorai.
- Also known as Karasu-dera, or Crow Temple.
What to see
- Crow paintings by Nagai Ikka.
- Main hall, rebuilt from 1703 to 1708.
- Bell cast in 1792.
- Three ancient trees designated in Ayabe.
