Shiogama Shrine is a historic site dedicated to deities of salt and mountains.
What it is
- Shrine dedicated to Sarutahiko-no-Mikoto.
- Also enshrines two Oyamatsumi-no-Kami.
- Associated with salt production.
- Became a non-ranked shrine in May 1874.
What to see
- Two mountain shrines are now auxiliary shrines.
When to go
- Main festival on the 15th of the old 11th month.
