Shōgen-ji Temple
正眼寺
Shōgen-ji Temple is a historic Rinzai Zen temple with important artifacts and a legacy of training.
What it is
- A Rinzai Zen temple of the Myōshin-ji branch.
- Founded in 1658 by Taigoku Yui.
- Its mountain name is Myōhōzan.
- Kanzan Egen stayed here for nine years around 1330.
What to see
- Tokkō-an, Mentō-an, Daiki-an, and Funi-an sub-temples.
- A large bell cast in March 1673.
- A statue of Satō Kichiji.
- Armor of the Satō family.
