- Founded in 1209 by Minamoto no Yoritomo's third son, Sadayo.
- Created to protect the demon gate of the Kamakura Shogunate.
- One of the "Seven Sugiyama Shrines."
- Enshrines Ichikishima Hime no Mikoto and other deities.
