What it is

  • A major expressway connecting Kawasaki City in Kanagawa to Kisarazu City in Chiba.
  • The route consists of a 9.5-kilometer tunnel and a 4.4-kilometer bridge.
  • It features the longest undersea road tunnel currently found in Japan.
  • Opened on December 18, 1997, as part of National Route 409.
