Wakamiya Hachiman Shrine is a historic Nagoya shrine, rebuilt after WWII, with ties to powerful samurai families.
What it is
- A Shinto shrine, also known as Wakamiya Hachiman-gu.
- Founded during Emperor Tenmu's reign or the Taiho era.
- Relocated to its current site by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1610.
- Served as the tutelary deity for the Owari Tokugawa family.
