Yamagami Hachiman Shrine

What it is

• A shrine dedicated to Hachiman Daimyojin.
• Amaterasu Sumera Okami and Amenokoyane-no-mikoto are also enshrined.
• It stands in a corner of the Saki Tatetsuki Kofun group.

What to see

• The current main hall, built in 1830, has cypress bark roofing.
• The worship hall was constructed in 1677.
• A cedar tree planted by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1591.
• It is in front of the Saki Ryozan Kofun, an empress's mausoleum.

• 7-minute walk from Heijo Station on the Kintetsu Line.
