Shūmyō-ji Temple
秀明寺
Shūmyō-ji Temple is a historic Shingon Buddhist temple in Tokyo, founded in the 14th century.
What it is
- A temple of the Shingon-shu Chizan-ha sect.
- Founded by Shūmyō during the Ōchō era (1311-1312).
- Established after an image of Prince Shōtoku drifted to Haneda.
What to see
- The current main image, made by Ishikawa Gen'ei.
- The image was created during the Kaei era (1848-1855).
